About the knives:
All the knives are handmade by me, Brian Jacobson. I use high quality materials to ensure that they will last a life time. The blades are high quality carbon steel or damascus and are heat treated like the big boys. Each knife is roughed out on a grinder, then hand filed to final shape. The bevels are then ground in and hand finished using files and many grades of sandpaper for a nice finish. The file work is all done by hand with my large selection of 'tiny' files. The blade is then finished with either fine sandpaper or etched if damascus is used. The guard is soldered in place with a low melting point silver solder. If bolsters are used they are pinned in place using a pin of the same material as the bolster and peened to fix them in place. The handle/scales are then affixed using 2 ton epoxy and pinned if needed. Once the final shape has been roughed out I then proceed to use higher and higher grades of sand paper to prepare the handle/guard/bolsters for buffing. All buffing is done using a dremel and a sewn cloth wheel. I use either green chrome rouge or a very fine white compound.
